What it does, and what it does not
It cannot go out of date, and it cannot follow your readers
The widget holds no date. It fetches the obligation record on every load and computes the countdown against the reader's own clock, in UTC, which is when the law says an obligation begins to bind.
It sets nothing, reads nothing about the reader and reports nothing back. It is drawn in Shadow DOM, so your stylesheet cannot break it and it cannot restyle your page.
Every date carries the article that sets it, and the record behind it is signed with Ed25519. If one is wrong, it is a defect we want to hear about, and the correction reaches every copy at once.
It works anywhere a page can carry a script tag: WordPress, Webflow, Ghost, Squarespace, Notion sites and hand-written HTML alike. If your platform strips scripts, the link inside the tag still points your readers at the same record. Nothing about it is licensed or metered, and nobody needs to ask us first. If you write about AI regulation, it is yours to use, and a newsroom or law firm that wants a variant for its own audience can write to us and describe it.
